This fall, I’ve been working closely with Ironman.com contributing columnist, Lisa Dolbear, on a series of Training articles geared toward triathletes. I’ve been working with Lisa (a triathlete herself) for three years now, modifying her strength training workouts as needed through the off-season and the summer months when she’s racing. One of the staples for any athlete, is functional strength training. The combination exercises help to keep the body strong, fluid and balanced. And for the multisport athlete (whose training schedule often leaves little time left over for strength training) functional strength training exercise help to tone more muscles in less time.
